A few words on our current situation

“They’re the finest team in all the land, I’m sure that you’ll agree, To see them win is something grand, It’s part of history”

A quote from one of my favourite Rangers songs “Rangers Over Here” and one which is pretty relevant to the situation at hand.

I’ve been sickened in the past few months by the absolute kicking my club has had. It’s shook my belief in Scottish football to the core. Christ, it even had me cheering on a Turkish team whose name I can barely pronounce last night just to get it up an SPL club which, Celtic apart, I would have never previously done…even with Aberdeen!

Now that we have (pretty much) been granted a licence to play football next season and have already signed the first of a few new faces, us Gers fans can get back to talking about football. However the entire game in Scotland will no longer be the same for me. There are a few things that have changed:

1. The phrase “The Old Firm” doesn’t exist. There is no such thing anymore, it’s always been a tenuous tag but the backstabbing and sniping that has gone on recently has been the final nail in the coffin.

2. The SPL disgusts me. Perhaps not all the clubs, I can’t say at the moment. I don’t have a problem with them kicking us out, as that’s their decision and their right. But any club chairman who is sitting there rubbing their hands in glee at making money off Rangers next season due to us having to sign over TV rights to them is a parasitic cunt who wouldn’t be able to comprehend the phrase “Sporting Integrity” as they would be too busy pleading with their hate-blinkered fans to buy season tickets for a pointless league that’s over before a ball has been kicked. Plus this transfer ban? You bunch of blackmailing bastards.

3. My support of the national team, this is the one that I find hardest to get over. I’ve been a passionate Scotland fan for as long as I can remember. When all this nonsense began I considered boycotting the national team as a last resort. It’s not even a boycott now; I’ve completely lost any passion for it. If Scotland were playing tomorrow I would be lucky of I checked the score on Sunday morning. Perhaps time will heal this one but who knows.

I could go on but I reckon I’ve ranted enough for one night. I’ll leave you with another quote, from a guy called Bruce Springsteen:

Once we made a promise we swore we’d always remember, No retreat baby, No surrender”
